The poodle is a neurotic creature

You can easily understand why when you consider placing yourself in the position of the poodle. Today, poodles are bred in large quantities and often in these breeding centers the very young poodles do not receive the treatment and care that other dogs receive precisely because they are in such high demand. After a few days or weeks, most litters are gone and the new pup is placed in a cage in a pet shop somewhere. Because of this, the poodle is extremely sensitive and must be treated with care. While the poodle may seem very sweet and placid, it is in reality an animal that likes its fair share of tasks and exercises. In most dog competitions held across the nation, most of the top contenders are the poodles, precisely because their natural predisposition to complex maneuvers that include complicated race courses which they can easily master.

With the poodle, one of the best things that a new pet owner will discover is that beauty and brains go well together with the poodle. Poodles are not only intelligent students when it comes to training them, but these animals are also some of the most enthusiastic pets you will encounter. Often a trainer finds that a poodle is one of those few creatures who find delight in pleasing its master. This is a reason why the training should be incorporated into the poodle’s lifestyle, since it is a way for the poodle to be relieved of its energy that it can otherwise spend on other more destructive activities such as digging holes in your backyard.

One trainer is enough

When teaching your pet poodle some basic tricks or simply house breaking your dog, it is important that you maintain only one teacher for your dog because too many teachers will only muddle up your pet’s brain and lead to a more difficult process of learning for your pets. Therefore it is important that you learn how to train your pet yourself unless you want to send it to obedience school where someone else can teach your pet dog some basic tricks. However, once you do this you will find that your pet poodle will be less likely to respond to you when you try to teach it other tricks.

One at a time. If you finally consider teaching your pet poodle basic tricks yourself, one of the guiding principles that you should remember is that pet poodles learn best when they are taught only one lesson at a time. Some pet owners commit the mistake of trying to teach the dog too many tricks at the same time – before the dog has even finished fully comprehending one trick. This will lead to muddled up thinking for your dog which can misrepresent certain commands with other actions.

Always be keen on the sensitive nature of your pet dog. Unlike other animals, the poodle will easily be offended if you treat it without respect. For some dogs, short term memory loss is frequent and some maltreatment done will easily be forgotten. However, this is not the case with the pet poodle that will not easily forgive and forget your harsh treatment. In fact, it has been noticed that pet poodles will actually study your face and look for any signs of annoyance. So if you want to train your pet poodle the easiest way, try to put on a smile.
